The Last Will and Testament of William Noland of Berkeley
In the name of God amen, that I, William Noland of Berkeley County and State of Virginia, being aged and weakly in body and on the decline of life, and knowing that it is appointed for all men to depart this life, and being of sound mind and memory do make and confirm this to be my last Will and Testament in the form and manner following.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Obed Noland the Plantation and all the land that I own.
Item: That Obed Noland, my son, is to pay three hundred pounds Virginia currency to the heirs of my estate hereafter mentioned, himself being one.
Item: This three hundred pounds is to be paid in three years after mine and my beloved wife, Joanna Noland's death.
Item: That my son, Obed Noland, is to pay the heirs of all the grain that he raised on the place that is now cleared, as long as I and my beloved wife, Joanna Noland, lives.
Item: My will is that my beloved wife, Joanna Noland, shall have the house and garden and all the household furniture during her natural life.
Item: My will is that my beloved wife, Joanna Noland, is to have two cows and three hogs. The rest of my personal or movable to be sold at my death and the money logged in the Executors proceeds till the payment of money becomes due from my son, Obed Noland. The money so logged drawing interest and when that money becomes due, my will is the whole of my estate shall be equally divided between my sons and daughters: William Noland, Thomas Noland, Philip Noland, Henry Noland, Joshua Noland, Susannah Whighte (White), Mary Noland, Obed Noland, Pearce Noland.
Item: My will is that my son Obed Noland, and Nathan Young, I appoint them Executors of my Estate.
This I make and ordain to be my last Will and Testament as witnessed by my hand and seal this seventeenth day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and four (1804).
