Matthew Hubbard

The eldest son of Robert Hubbard, Matthew, born 1627 in England, married Sibella Caynhoo in Virginia during February 1652. To this marriage three children were born John, Rebecca and Matthew. Matthew Hubbard was a merchant and early justice of York County, Virginia and married Sibella Ham, widow of Jerome Ham, justice of burgess. Of interest, in the home of Matthew Hubbard, there were four rooms besides kitchen, battery, outhouses, seven English servants, seven horses, 41 cattle, 15 pounds worth of plate. List of books he owned is given on p. 175 and included medical books, common prayer books, poems, Latin bible, astronomy tutorials, a French romance, Culpeper's Anatomy, Aesop's Fables, Culpeper's Dispensatory, Practice of Piety, etc.[1]
The Hubbards prospered and Matthew Sr. served as Justice of the York County Court in Virginia, 25 January 1660. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Sir Henry, praticising law, acquiring land and property with consummate skill.

Sibella Caynhoo was born c.1631 in England to Dorothy and William Caynhoo.2,1 |

Mary Dismukes may not be Richard's mother. Most DNA matches are Samuel only and there is a LONG period of time between Richard and Samuel and the next children. BUT there are 3 matches with William both parents. Also note the marriage date... 1757. |
