I Samuel Butt, of Montgomery County and State of Maryland, planter, being weak of body, but sound of memory blessed be God and divers causes moving thereunto, this 28th day of August in the year of our Lord God 1783, make publish and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Elizabeth all my Estate Real and Personal to her use to have during her natural life and after her decease it is my will and desire that it should be given manner and form following...I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary a cow and a calf and dest which is now in my possession. I likewise give and bequeath unto my daughter Keziah Butt now Harding, one cow and calf and three pounds currant money of Maryland to be paid by my executor. I also give and bequeath unto my son Hazel Butt one negro boy named Ben, also one bed, bedstead and furniture and one cow. I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Swearingen Butt, one cow. I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Richard Butt one cow. I give to my son Samuel Butt five shillings and no more. I also give to my daughter Ann Butt now Hawker five shillings and no more. I likewise give to my daughter Elizabeth Butt now Ray five shillings and no more and after the decease of my wife Elizabeth Butt I give the whole of my Estate Real and Personal and except what is herein before given, to be divided amoungsth my sons John Butt, Aron Butt, Regenal Butt, Basil Butt, Swearingen Butt and Hazel Butt and my daughters Mary Butt, Ruth Butt now Harding and Keziah Butt and I make and ordain my wife Elizabeth Butt my executix and my son Hazel Butt executor of this my last will and testament utterly revoking all other wills by me heretofore made in witness whereof I have this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed Sealed and Delivered, Samuel (X) Butt in the presence of us, Samuel Glaze and William Richards.
