He married Catherine Stigler 15 MAY 1762 in St. Paul's Parrish, Stafford Co., VA, daughter of James Stigler and Martha “Mary” Unknown. She was born BET 1728-1740 and died 27 OCT 1828 in Fauquier Co., Virginia.

Robert Stringfellow owned two Virginia estates: "White Chimney" on the Fredericksburg-Warrington Road and "Liberty Hill" a show place of Fauquier County. He was known as "Tory Bob" because of his opposition to the Revolution.
