Misc | Parents? He is never shown with William MackGehee and Mary Agnes Carr, BUT all of the McGees are incredibly mixed up! They think he's a McGee not a MacGhee! This is the WikiTree entry for him as a MackGhee/McGhee and he married Ann Nancy Graves. And his son John is not OUR John! https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McGehee-284 There are no sources here, but this should be considered: https://www.geni.com/people/John-McGee/6000000054632708245?through=6000000092174863885 Once it gets to his son John, he is suddenly descended from the five brothers and not the MackGehee line.4,5
Misc | Children. There is such a mess in this family that I only put children in that I thought I could be assured that they belong to a male MackGehee descendant and Ann DeJarnette. Even DNA matches were not convincing in some cases, because we are descended from both McGee lines. |

Birth | 1672 | In Virginia, British America. I'm putting his birth date as 1672. The trouble with that is it is completely out of sync from the other children of Thomas and Ann Bastrop. Which some trees show quite different, but 1672 would still look out of line. Maybe this is some other William? I trust the DNA (for now)... The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent and James City Counties, Virginia 1684-1786, Transcribed by and Edited by C.G. Misc | Resources. There is a book McGee Descendants, 3 volumes, for sale. The single best source of information about the genealogy of the McGehee family that we are aware of is the three volume set of McGehee Descendants by Jane N. and Ethel C. Woodall Grider. These books can be purchased directly from the author at: Jane N. Grider 383 Third Avenue Winder, GA 30680 Tel. 770-867-9083 [email protected] Volume I – $50.00 Volume II – $50.00 Volume III – $80.00 Volume III (Second quality) – $65.00 https://mcgeheefamily.org/genealogy/ A search of volume 1 on hathitrust says there are matches for "Mary Agnes Carr".
Misc | Conflation. There is a findagrave that bears no relationship to what I know about him. For example, the wife Mary Agnes Carr is confirmed to a certain extent by DNA. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/196114116/william_magee see the discussion in the WikiTree entry for "this" William which I put as a source because it is long. This is in the WikiTree entry of his daughter Mary: Removed as daughter of William MackGehee b 1689, as this William MackGehee is too young to be her father. Added William MackGehee as father, consistent with a number of other profiles that had William b 1672 as father rather than William b 1689. However, further research required as William b 1672 already possibly has another daughter Mary, who married Richard Davis.5
Misc | Children. One can make some guesses from the ones with DNA matches that make sense... Scott's DNA Mary (1694-1781)- 2 William and Mary Agnes Birth date is a 1695 baptism of a Mary Hill in London! Another has her married in London but born in Virginia Samuel (1706-1753)- 2 William and Mary Agnes No evidence for a birth date but geneanet trees but children seem to be born in the 1720s. William the Quaker (1715-1795) - 1 William and Mary Agnes Is he confused with his father? Birth dates 1702? and his fatehr is called William the Quaker, which he was not, I think Ann (1720-1784) - 1 William and Mary Agnes birth from a marriage record to Mathew Rice in 1742, Judy's DNA Mary (1694-1781) - both parents Samuel (1706-1753) No CA

Misc | Parents - NO idea. I have Thomas. DNA indicates Thomas. DNA indicates I have Bastrop DNA. But most people assign William b1672 to a William. Misc | Parents - speculative? I've seen parents Thomas Carr and Mary Dabney. http://mymedievalgenealogy.blogspot.com/2009/09/william-mackgehee.html But their daughter Agnes was born in 1712 and married Col John Waller. Our Mary Agnes apparently had children around 1700. There are some DNA matches of Mary Agnes with Thomas, son of Thomas Carr. The accepted children are Thomas and William. Scott has DNA matches with Thomas and Robert. Judy has a DNA match with Robert. The Thomas has both parents as Common Ancestor. WikiTree has: Possible Parent: Thomas Carr as he was given a land grant by the State of Virginia on 22 Feb 1727 in Hanover County that adjoined William "Macghee"'s land. The land description is as follows: 3770 acres on the south side the Northanna on the lower side Great Rockey Creek, and on both sides Little Rockey Creek adjoining Wm. Macghee, Ambrose Smith, &c. (Source: Land Office Patents & Grants/Northern Neck Grants & Surveys)[1] Possible Parent: John Carr. Yeoman, Will Dated: 19 May 1734, Location: Isle of Wight, John Carr. Yeoman. Leg. - daughter Mary; daughter Elizabeth; daughter Sarah; son William; son Abraham; son Hardy; daughter Grace; son John; son Robert; daughter Eleanor Duck; to my wife and my three young sons. Ex., son Robert Carr. There are also some Massachusetts Carr people just to help confuse.
Misc | Children. I put this here because we know who she is but we do not know who her husband William is. I see a child Catherine MackGehee (1698-1780) but I also see doubts expressed as to who her parents are so I left her out. |

Misc | Children. Ann is not included in the list of children in WikiTree nor in DeJarnette and Allied Families. But DNA says our Ann is related to Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Daniel, and Eleanor from the usual list. Also, Elizabeth and Ann married siblings. WILL OF THOMAS MACKGEHEE - Dated 27 July 1727, St. John's Parish, King William County Published in McGehee Descendants* Volume I, Page 31 THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF THOMAS MACK GEHEE In the name of God Amen. I, Thomas Mack Gehee, of St. John's Parish, King William county, being sick and weak, but of perfect mind and memory, do call to mind the uncertainty of this life and here make my last will and testament. First, I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, my merciful Redeemer, hoping through his mercy to obtain an everlasting crown of glory, my body to be decently buried, and all my just and principal debts to be paid. I bequeath as here followeth: Item 1st. I give and bequeath to my son, William Mack Gehee, ten shillings to buy him a mourning ring, being in full of his portion. Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Anna Butler, ten shillings to buy her a mourning ring, being in full of her portion. Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, John Lipscomb, and my daughter Dinah, his wife, twenty shillings to buy them mourning rings, being in full of their portion. Item 4th. I give and bequeath to my son, Abraham Mack Gehee, ninety-six acres of land, being in part of the dividend of land I now live on, with the houses, orchards and appurtenances belonging thereunto, to him and his heirs forever. Item 5th. I give and bequeath to my son Abraham Mack Gehee, one negro man named Bristol, to him and his heirs forever; also one feather bed and furniture, and one large chest. And it is my further will and testament that when my two sons, Jacob and Samuel, and my daughter, Sarah, come of age, that my said son, Abraham, do pay them five pounds each. Item 6th. I give and bequeath to my son, Edward Mack Gehee, fifty acres of land, of the same dividend of land I now live on, belonging to my said plantation, also one man named Peter, to him and his heirs forever, on his paying to my sons, Samuel and Jacob, and my daughter, Sarah, when they arrive at the age of twenty one years, five pounds each. I also give and bequeath to my son, Edward Mack Gehee, one feather bed and furniture and the chest which was his mother's. Item 7th. I give and bequeath to my son, Samuel Mack Gehee, fifty acres of land, being part of the same dividend of land I now live on, also one feather bed and furniture, and one large chest, to him and his heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my son, Jacob Mack Gehee, fifty acres of land, one large chest, to him and his heirs forever. My further will and desire is that my son, Jacob, shall live with my son, Abraham Mack Gehee, and when he arrives at the age of eighteen to have a share in the crop with him in case my said son, Jacob, works with him. My further will and desire is that my said land, so given, to be divided among my children, to be laid out crosswise, beginning at Neckatewanna bridge up the head line to the corner, and down the back line until it includes Abraham's portion of ninety-six acres, and so the list of my sons' parts to be laid out in this course until they each have their complement. Item 9th. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah, one feather bed and furniture, one chest of drawers, and one sealskin trunk. And it is my further will and desire that after my decease my said daughter, Sarah, be paid by my executors five pounds in current money or goods from a store, that is to say, the first year after my decease, fifty shillings, and the following fifty shillings more. And I give and bequeath unto my said daughter, Sarah, her mother's horse, saddle and bridle. Item 10th. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Dickson, one bed filled with feathers, a pair of blankets, my desk and all that is in the desk. My further will and desire is that my draught mare and hogs be and remain on the plantation for the support and maintenance of my children. My cattle and sheep and hogs I desire to be equally divided among my five youngest children. Also, the last of my personal estate, likewise by lots, be equally divided among the same. I do constitute my loving sons, Abraham, Edward and Samuel Mack Gehee, my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and making void and disannulling all wills by me before made.
