Elizabeth Tate
F, #3955, b. about 1731, d. 13 October 1763
Aka Elizabeth Taite or Tait, she was probably born in Virginia, as the daughter of William and Sarah Tate . . . according to her father's April 1751 will [where she is listed as Elizabeth Tait], she had at least eleven siblings, i.e., James, John Owen [actually a son-in-law], Mary, Sarah, Thomas, Nathaniel, Lucy, Nathan, William, Samuel, and Jesse . . . it is written that she married Daniel Grant ca. 1751 . . . multiple sources indicate that Elizabeth Grant died the 13th of October, 1763, and is buried in the church yard of Old Ground Squirrel Meeting House, Hanover County, Virginia [near where her husband was born and raised] . . . there are six children mentioned in Daniel Grant's 1793 will, i.e., Thomas, John, Amelia, Fanny, Isabel, and Anna, plus an unamed infant son mentioned in her father-in-law's 1773 will, i.e. . . . "Two acres of land in the County of Hanover and Province of Virginia Whereon the Meeting House now stands known by the Name of Ground Squirrel Meeting house Including the Spring to the use of the Presberterian Congregation upon the conditional promise that the said Congregation do keep a good and genteel pailing or Rails round the Graves of my Daughter In Law [Elizabeth Grant nee Tate] and Grandson that is Buried in the said Ground and also Continue the Publick Work of God in the Said house in the Presbyterian way . . . M, #3960, b. 3 March 1732, d. 30 September 1785
Parents
Birth | 3 March 1732 | In St. Paul's Parish, Stafford County, Virginia, British America. His name may have been Stephen Spicer Sebastian.1 |
Death | 30 September 1785 | At age 53 in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States.2 |
Military | | Chainman. chạinman on George Washington's surveying crew in Frederick Co, VA, Pvt , Revolutionary War, NC Regiment3,4 |
Misc | | A Stephen died young? As well? From "St. Paul's Parish Register (Stafford/King George Counties) 1715-1798" compiled by John Bailey Calvert Nicklin.
Sebastians are on pp 54-55. Pg 55, line 6 states the birth of Stephen, son of Isaac and Rachel Sebastian, March 3, 1732/3. Line 11 of that same page lists the death of Stephen Sebastian, Feb 7, 1734/5. Assuming this is the same Stephen at about a year old, it's not surprising you haven't seen much more on him.
"Marriage Records of the City of Fredricksburg, and of Orange, Spotsyvania and Stafford Counties, Virginia 1722-1850" compiled by Therese A. Fisher, p. 143 lists the marriage of Issac Sebastian and Rachel Spicer on May 11, 1727 in Stafford County. Obviously that time frame fits with Stephen's birth.
I did find one other "Sebastin" on p. 26 of Crozier's "Westmoreland County", which is a compendium of Will Books, etc. William Rollins, 4 Dec 1717; 26 March 1718, to Sarah Sebastin; my three children Philip, Mary and Thomas Rollins; eldest son is 12 next Nov; dau. 9 Jan., ensuing, youngest son 7 in March ensuing.
