MiscWhere he lived when. Henry Berry lived in Lancaster, and Old Rappahannock Cos., Va. His Will was dated 30 Mar 1672, Old Rappahannock Co., Va. He lived in that part of Lancaster Co., Va. which latter became Old Rappahannock Co.(1656) Most of his land was in the part which later became Stafford Co., therefore these three counties have to be searched to get his whole story. Source of info: History of Lancaster, Old Rappahannock and Stafford Cos., Va.; Land records of Lancaster, Old Rappahannock and Stafford Cos. Will book, 1672, Old Rappahannock Co., Va. Part of his children named in his will were under 21 years of age.

Immigration1650Virginia, British America. Headright. He came to Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, in 1650 as a headright, fully documented, in a land patent issued to Epharaditus Lawson, dated May 22, 1650. At the time, Virginia wished to encourage people to emigrate to the colony and gave 50 acres of land to each new emigrant...a headright was a person who found someone else to pay their passage, in Henry's case, Epharaditus Lawson, and gave this person his 50 acres on arrival. Thus, Henry arrived, probably from England, and after paying Lawson the land allotted him from the Colony of Virginia to pay for his passage, started out his life a free man. By 1656 he received a land patent for 140 acres, and from then on appears often in the records of old Rappahannock County.

Wit. JOHN ROLT, aged 50 years or thereabouts,
HANNA X MADDING.

Although a date for probate was not given it appears that Henry was an executor of a Butler will written on 26 Dec 1676 and probated in Westmoreland County in January 1677. Based on these facts, a death date for Henry is established as about 1 January 1677"1

MarriageIn England. One or more Marys? Wikitree has her marrying these two people at the top of the page:
Husband of Mary (Thomas) Saunders
Husband of Mary (Parmenter) Sanders

And further down on the page have him marrying
MARY WEBB May 1660 in Northumberland County, VA, daughter of GILES WEBB and ELIZABETH. She died 1683.

But it doesn't matter much which Mary is the mother of our Anne because nothing more is known of either potential Mary.2,1,3
