. Judith Gordon is named as a daughter in John Morriset's will.
Parents
Birth | about 1718 | In Manakin Town, Henrico, Virginia, British America. Birth date not known. The marriage record to Ford says 1731 but that is too late... with Judith being listed as being born in 1737. I have seen the exact date of 7 Jan 1719 quoted with no source.
The DAR record says she was the daughter of John's first wife.1,2,3![Morriset John b1718 in DAR record](../st/pdficon.png) |

Scott as Samuel Anderson 6/2/2024 15 matches Unfortunately both under Judith Gordon and John Morriset it says that Frances Morriset is the son of both John Morriset and Judith Gordon. That makes no sense by dates or what people have in their trees... He's called half but he shows up as a son of Judith Gordon.
8 matches under Margaret Morriset which do some out under only John Morriset (unless there is some common ancestor later).
Judy's as Samuel Anderson 18 matches Mary Baker only John Margaret comes out as John only. I have child of Frances Ford |
Military | 1781 | Furnished supplies. Part of the text of the Sons of the American Revolution submission:
Two of my ancestors John Morrissette and his son David Morrissette assisted in establishing the American Independence during the War of the Revolution by donation of feed and supplies to the Troops at Chesterfield Courthouse and to the Buckingham Militia as is shown by the photostat copies of the Chesterfield County Revolutionary Records in the Virginia State Library which are attached to the Application. That these were troops which were Loyal to the American Government is shown by the fact that these donations are recorded on the same page and other supplies given for the use of troops under Baron Stuben.
Family tradition is that John Morrisette, who died in 1782, died from wounds and injuries received while fighting with the Chesterfield troops or Militia but we have no documentary proof of this available.
The Morrisetta Family have existed in Henrico and Chesterfield since Pierre Morrissette a French Huguenot Refugee settled there in 1704 and it is most natural to suppose that these Virginians of French ancestry were against the Queen of England.

Judith Gordon
F, #680, b. circa 1715, d. about 1750
Judith Gordon is named as a daughter in John Morriset's will.
Birth | circa 1715 | |
Marriage | 17361,2 | |
Death | about 1750 | No evidence of the date except John Morriset had two more wives. |
Misc | | Parents unknown. There are two common possibilities for her parents. I think Huguenot is likely, but there is a date issue... Our Judith was probably born around 1715, not like her "sister" Ann who married Mathieu Agee about 1714.
Isaac Gandovin II aka Godwin, Godvin, Gaudwin Born 1671 in Virginia Son of Isaac Gandovin I and Ann (Bondurant) Gandovin Some trees: Gandovin Isaac II (1671-1754) WikiTree FREE Family Tree.pdf Gandovin Isaac R. Gandovin, II (1650 - 1754) - Genealogy.pdf
A daughter Judith Godwin married Peter Faure and seems documented leaving at last 5 children. One child born 1706 so married before that. But need to find the father's will... 1745
What about her being a child of the next generation of Isaac Gandovin. Not much known about that person.
The second tree has relatives named Ford (Faure) and Agee, Huguenot names. But no Judith marrying a Morriset. The familysearch tree has no Judith child of Isaac Godwin and Ann Porter. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/9KHY-CFJ ________________
No sign of a suitable Judith in Godwin family history from William and Mary College Bulletin (which see). BUT that does NOT mean the name may have been spelled Godwin or Gordon or...
----------------------- John Gordon b 1665 and immigration record and Mary Gordon b 1685 A John Gordon arrived in Virginia in 1705 "John Gordon in the U.S. and Canada, Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s." 1900s https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/4011660:7486?indiv=try&h&pid=322247763783&db. Misc | | Maiden name. There is a Judith Girodan mentioned in Huguenot Emigration to Virginia. This could be the Judith who married Faure but they had their first child in 1706.
Gaudovin is another possible spelling for the Huguenot "Gordon"
The 27th 8ber, 1731 , was born Judith Bernard, daughter of Jean Bernard and of Anne, his wife; was baptized by Mr. Marye ; had for godfather David Bernard ; for godmother, Judith Girodan and Anne Bernard ; was baptized the 5th 9ber of the said year. Jean Chastain. |
Misc | | DNA Matches. Judy DNA to Samuel Anderson 6/2/2024 Strange link to a Frances William Morriset supposedly a son of Judith Gordon, but... I have him a child of another wife. Does not even say half.

Daniel Isaac Faure
M, #684, b. 1648, d. 31 August 1710
Parents
Birth | 1648 | In Province of Berry, France. Findagrave says he was born 20 Sep 1647. One millennium file says 1648, another says 1637.1,2,3,4 |
Marriage | 1670 | In Berry Province, France. From Findagrave: Daniel Isaac Faure (Ford) son of Isaac and Anne Tibault Faure married in 1670, Berry Province, France Mary Ann Chastain the daughter of Jean Francis and Frances Jane Reno or Renault Chastain. Both families arrived in Virginia Colony in April 1700 and settled at Mannakin Town now located in Goochland County.1,2,5,4,6,7,8 |
Death | 31 August 1710 | At age ~62 in Manakin, Henrico, Virginia, British America. I believe this is wrong. He may have died on the way to America. Mary Ann is probably the "widow Faure"... It could refer to his son Daniel, but did he die in 1710? Some Daniel Faure did a land deal in 1715, it appears.2,9 |
Burial | | At Manakin Farm Cemetery in Manakin Farms, Goochland, Virginia, British North America. |

John Routt
M, #686, b. 13 December 1742, d. 22 June 1827
Most people seem to think that Ursula Routt's mother is Mary Withers and Daniel James Routt's mother is Catherine White, both children of John Routt. I believe I have proven that Daniel James Routt is the son of James Routt, not John Routt. All those kids with overlapping years just does not work out. Plus I have other evidence (see James Routt).
Another source, a book claims a John Routt born in Culpepper County, VA, married Miss Withers. and had two sons and five daughters, viz: John, Nimrod, Ann, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary and -----. John married Miss Duncan of Culpeper, and had children. Nimrod married in Kentucky, and had children. Ann married LeRoy Dulaney, and had five children. Elizabeth Routt married John Whitehead, and had children; lived in Clay village in Harrison County, Ky. Mary Routt married John Culp, of Kentucky, and had children. Another daughter, ------ Routt married shadrack Browning and had a daughter Mary.

Scott Borgmier 48 matches with 5 children, but calls them all half and I don't know how to interpret that. This child's birth dates is between some that show.
Scott gets 20 matches with Catherine White, but all on Daniel James, so that could just be because he has no trees and lots of people have Catherine White as his mother. |

Nancy Routt
F, #691, b. 1765
I cannot figure this out. There is a Nancy or an Ann or both? One or both marries both a Delany and a Hardin. Findagrave has Nancy with this birth year and death unknown. Findagrave Nancy marries Benjamin Hardin.
Her father, John Routt's WILL says Ann Delany is deceased and gives money to her children and heirs! He died in 1827.
Something about Dulaney reference says: Ann married LeRoy Dulaney, and had five children.
Parents
Father | John Routt (b. 13 December 1742, d. 22 June 1827) |
Mother | Mary Withers (b. 22 January 1744/45, d. before 1794) |
Birth | 17651 | |
Marriage | 18 March 1785 | In Fauquier, Virginia, United States. One of the three sources for this marriage says her father is Daniel. That does not make sense from what I know, so I was happy to find this on findagrave. I agree they were siblings, but I think their mother might be Catherine White. Withers was another wife.
"page 156 of the book "Fauquier Families 1759-1799" by John P. Alcock (1994), is listed the following entry: Benjamin Hardin marriage bond 3-16-1785 to Nancy Routt, Dau. of John Routt, witness Daniel Routt, witness and bondsman Lewis Grigsby. The marriage of Daniel Routt to Martha Stiglar on 9-6-1788 was also listed on page 305, with Lewis Grigsby as bondsman. Thus I believe Daniel and Nancy were siblings, the children of John Routt, and Mary Martha Withers."
Note, John Routt has, in my tree, TWO daughers named Nancy! One is "Nancy Ann" but most official records are lucky to get any name right, much less include two. By different wives.2,3 |
Marriage | 5 January 1792 | In Culpepper County, Virginia, United States.4 |
Death3 | | |
Burial | | At O'Nan-Hardin Cemetery in Orville, Henry, Kentucky, United States. |
Misc | | Parents. Father is pretty secure, but the mother is either Catherine White (my preference) or Mary Martha Withers. |
Misc | 1968 | Submission to Sons of the American Revolution.5 |

Hannah Routt
F, #697, b. 1770, d. about 1810
She apparently married a Colvin and then Leroy Delaney.
Parents
Father | John Routt (b. 13 December 1742, d. 22 June 1827) |
Mother | Mary Withers (b. 22 January 1744/45, d. before 1794) |
Birth | 1770 | |
Marriage | about 1790 | |
Death | about 1810 | I have no evidence of a death date. However, this source states that there was no wife in the 1810 census and Charles remarried in 17 Sept 1810 to Frances (Greening) Lightfoot, widow of John Lightfoot and daughter of Thomas Greening. So one can assume Hannah died before the 1810 census. Although I've seen an 1817 date, I have no knowledge of where it came from.1 |
