1. THOMAS1 DAVIS died August 1844 in Hardin Co KY. He married SUSANNA JOHNSON February 13, 1786 in Lincoln Co., KY, daughter of NOEL JOHNSON and TABITHA UNKNOWN. She was born Abt. 1767 in Amherst Co., VA, and died Aft. December 1831 in Hardin Co., KY.
Notes for THOMAS DAVIS:
The Davis forefathers immigrated to America from Wales. One of them was killed by Indians in the wilderness of Virginia.
Thomas Davis, one of the descendants, who was one of the pioneer settlers of Lincoln County, VA/KY, fought against the Indians with Daniel Boone.He reared a family of eight children. After they were grown he moved to Hardin Co., KY. He lived there until his death.

The Will of Thomas Davis
In the name of God Amen.
I Thomas Davis of the County of Hardin being sick and infirm in my body but of sound and disposing memory For which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequest as follows.
I first commend my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter to be named for this and other purpose.
Secondly my will is that all my just debts be paid and the residues of my estate both real and personal I give as follows towit.
To my son John Davis two hundred and forty seven acres of land in Hardin valued to eight hundred and sixty four Dollars and a half I further give him a negro boy named John whose value is not to be taken in consideration in the final Settlement of my several heirs in making them all equal.
Secondly I give to my son Tandy J Davis a negro girl named Mary valued to five hunderd dollars I also give him a negro boy named Jefferson whose value is not to be taken in consideration further than making him equal to John Davis in regard to one negro given in common as will affect from the like gifts to my other children.
Thirdly I give to my daughter Nancy Hubbard four hundred and ninety acres of land situated in said County of Hardin and valued to one dollar and twenty five cents an acre and a negro woman named Alice and two children Mahala and Violet taken together with land making the sum of thirteen hundred and twelve dollars fifty cents and including a boy previously given named James whose value is not to be cosidered only in common.
Fourthly I give to my daughter Mary Smith four hundred and eleven acres and a half of land situated in Hardin Cty valued at one dollar and a half an acre further give her a negro boy named Green valued to four hundreds and fifty dollars making together with land the sum of one thousand and sixty seven dollars and twenty five cents not taking into consideration the value of a boy named Tilford previously given in common and a girl named Aunt Moniale which is dead and I here declare that no dead negros are to go into consideration.
Fifthly I give to my daughter Tabitha Lane five hundred and three acres of land in Hardin County and valued to seven hundred and fifty seven dollars I futher give to her a negro girl named Louisana valued to five hundred and fifty dollars making together with the land the sum of thirteen hundred & seven dollars and fifty cents not taking into consideration the value of a negro boy named George previously given in common.
Sixthly I give to my son Robert Davis 100 acres of land more or less valued to one thousand dollars it lies in Bullet Cty not taking into consideration a negro boy named Hazel which was given in common.
Seventhly I give to my son Thomas V Davis two hundred and three acres of land situate in Cty of Hardin and valued to five hundred and seven dollars and a half further give to him a negro girl named Matilda valued to five hundred dollars making the sum of one thousand and seven dollars and a half not taking into cosideration a negro boy named Levi which has been previously given in common together with all the undivided land lying on Mill Creek adjoining to and interfencing with the Burcham Claim.
Eighthly I give to my grandson Tandy J Thurman one hundred acres of land situate in the Cty of Bullet and valued to six hundred dollars also a negro boy named Sam whose value goes like my other gifts in common without consideration, my futher will is that Robert Davis shall represent the said Tandy J Thurman as his gaurdian in paying taxes on his land and negro Boy, also to hire out for wages said Negro Boy and collect all money as it becomes due for benefit of said child which may be paid over to Richard Thurman for the education and support of him to maturity It is further provided that if the said child when considered capable of doing so wishes to improve on said land before he is twenty one years of age he may do so But further if the said Tandy J Thurman should die leaving no legal descendants Thi property is to rescind in common to the legal heirs of Testator Thomas Davis.
My futher will is that after my decease all my undivided negroes be valued by three disinterested men and retained in my family by such of my heirs taking of them at their valuations and agreeable to the best arrangements that can be made for the purpose of making them all equal dividend They are to have a credit of twelve months by paying interest on all money thus suspended. I further provide that if my Ret Negro Woman Lucy should be a longer liver than myself She is to be let to the lowest bidder for her comfortable support during life for which payment my estate is bound as for my other debts in common My further will is that My Three Daughters have three beds and their clothing without any consideration. All livestock other household and kitchen furniture together with farming utensils is to be valued and divided for the general purpose of equality.
It is further understood that Thomas V Davis is entitled to one half of present or future crops during my life. For the purpose of carrying the above testament into effect. Thereby nominate & constitue and appoint Thomas V Davis and William Smith executors of my last will and testament. For confiming and ratifying of which thereby pronounce and declare this to be my last & only will declaring all other wills heretofore by me made to be null and void the Testimony whereof I have here set my hand and fixed my seal this 12th day of December 1842.

At County Court for Hardin County at the Court house in Elizabeth Town on Monday the 19th day of August 1844. An instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Thomas Davis deceased was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of Ben Harris and Albert Torrance two of the subscribing witnesses thereto to be the true last will and testament of said Thomas Davis deceased that he had signed sealed and published the same in their presence and that they had at his request & in his presence and in the presence of each other attested the same as witness and that they believed that he was in his perfect mind and memory at the time of doing the same and thought the said Instrument was established as the true last will and testament of the said Thomas Davis and as such is ordered to be Recorded.
Whereupon I have truly recorded the same in my office this 31st day of August 1844.

For and in consideration of the sum of twenty seven dollars to him in hand paid doth bargain and sell a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Bullitt County Ky on the head of a branch of Salt River rising between NICHOL's and McCAHANS improvements and bounded as follows Towit: Beginning at a stake on the side of a hill in John MAY's line... containing fifty four acres be the same more or less.
