James McGee

James McGee was born in Donagheady, County Tyrone, Ulster, Ireland and he is the son of Robert McGee and his mother's name is unknown. James McGee came from Ireland in circa 1756 with his parents, Robert McGee and (Mother) McGee and his four brothers, William, Robert, David and John. These five brothers also had at least one sister named Jane McGee born circa 1736 who stayed in Ireland, she was married to Charles Young.

James McGee married his wife Mary “Molly” circa 1763/4 in Augusta Virginia and they are the parents of seven children.

James McGee purchased land in the area of Augusta County, Virginia which became Botetourt County in 1769. He later sold his holdings in Virginia and moved to Kentucky. He died in Mercer County Kentucky on July 8, 1818, leaving a wife named Molly (McGee) and six children: Robert, David, Dolly, Rachel, Jane, and Eliza.

Robert McGee

M, #1796, b. about 1697

Robert Magee/McGee was born in circa 1696/7 in Donagheady, Ulster Ireland, he is the son of another Robert Magee and Margaret Killgore . Robert had at least one known sibling, a younger brother named George McGee born in 1698.

While living in Ireland, Robert married circa 1733 an Irish woman, her name is unknown, (Could possibly be Rachel or Jane) ( Note: Robert's wife's name was NOT Elizabeth Stokley or Ann DeJarnet)

Robert and his wife had at least six children, a daughter named Jane McGee who stayed behind in Ireland, and was the wife of the Reverend Charles Young. Though Jane and Charles stayed in Ireland at least two of their children immigrated to America, James and John Young.

Robert and his wife also had five sons who would later immigrate to America with them, these sons are known as "The Five McGee Brothers from Ireland."

1. John McGee married Mary McCoun
2. Robert McGee married Jane Heaven(his name is not Robert Furman)
3. James McGee married Mary "Molly"
4. David McGee married Jean Robinson
5. William McGee died unmarried without issue

Immigration to America

In circa 1756 Robert McGee his wife and their sons immigrated to America. The family first settled in Virginia, where Robert and his wife purchased land and most probably built a cabin to live in. Robert and his wife's land was likely on the North Roanoke, in the Catawba Creek area near or adjoining the lands that their son Robert McGee later purchased. All or at least the younger McGee sons probably lived with them at this time as they would still have been to young to be on their own.

James and John are both ancestors, but I also have Jane with mother Elizabeth DeJarnette Stokley The Dejarnette Stokley is crap, nor can we know if they all have the same mother because we are descended form both James and John. David with only Robert McGee all 3 under John I get John McGee and Mary McCoun as common ancestors __________________ 14 matches over 6 children Scott has no McGee matches at all
Misc		Parents. NOTE! our two ancestors James and John may NOT be from the same family! One of them might be from the 5 immigrant brothers McGee! JOHN is the one connected to mother Ann Dejarnette BUT he is probably the MacGhee or however it is spelled! Mother Mary Agnes Carr with half uncle Robert Carr No DNA matches means Robert McGee 1670 and Margaret Kiltore b1675 are probably wrong.

It comes out common ancestor Thomas James Goldsby and Lucy Bryant. Thomas is father of Susannah mother of Pleasant.
