Judy - 3 matches on 3 children
Scott - 5 on Richard and 2 on charity
MiscChildren - at least 14 children.2
MiscParents - no evidence for John or the stories. There's no documentary evidence that points to any solid references that Robert Jefferis was a son of John Jefferis.

1) Gilbert Cope himself could find no evidence for Robert's background other than his involvement in two court cases (involving the same people, notably Thomas Withers and Jeremiah Collett, Jr.) in 1685. 2) Many errors have been repeated and embellished to fabricate a more interesting genealogy that has no supporting evidence. In fact, one writing erroneously gives a "baptismal" date that belongs to his wife Jane Chandler who was baptized in Pewsey parish, July 9, 1670. 3) Cope surmised, without explanation, that Jefferis was a Baptist, not Quaker - even though his acquaintances were. I suspect he was since he and his Jane signed the marriage certificate of their daughter Charity, and Jane Chandler his wife certainly was. 4) The immigration story of Robert is myth, there is no documentation when he arrived or on what ship. 5) the statement that he was a certain age at his death has no reference or citation, the only part that is true - and in quotes-is the date of his death. 6) It's unknown if Robert actually came from Wiltshire. While several Jefferis (and like names) appears in Wiltshire and around the areas other immigrant Quakers came from, there is no record of Robert's baptism to any of these families, though are some that come close. There are Quaker burials in Charlcutt [Charlcott] and Bremhill [Brimhill] that are in the vicinity of Calne (i.e. a Robert Jefferyes the elder was buried Nov.30, 1669, and another Robert Jeffery of Brimhill was buried Feb.4, 1664, etc.) 7) I propose Robert was likely born around 1664/65 and arrived in Chester County in or about 1685. He held no land but was no servant, there is a 6 year gap before he owns property alluding that he was a young man without property but not without employment. Once he bought property, he married Jane Chandler.

Overall, Robert Jefferis' attributed ancestry thus far is fiction without further investigation.1

Death1726At age ~50 in East Bradford, Chester, Pennsylvania, British America. There is a record of someone sounded like her buried in England. Did they do that? I know they (sometimes) sent records back, but bodies too? Or did shego there before she died? If this is not her, should we be suspicious of the death year?
