MiscParents: Unknown. Morris Genealogy believes they are related but does not know the relationship. Edward is not the son of Anthony Morris and Dorothy Sanford. Or apparently Nicholas, who was already in Virginia before Edward arrived, UNLESS he arrived more than once... But he came to the same place as the other Morris family members.

From Morris Genealogy by Melle Morris Jenkins, page 8:
"I could find no relationship of the two Morris families; however Edward Morris, Sr. could have been a younger brother or nephew of Nicholas Morris as he came to the colonies about 12 or 13 years later than Nicholas did (in 1653 by Peter Knight of Northumberland County) and to the very place Nicholas lived. Edward Morris, Sr. married Elizabeth (Preslev). relict of Peter Elder in 1687 in North Farnham Parish. The will of Edward Morris is missing but the inventory of his estate is recorded naming Edward Morris, Jr. as administrator of the estate."

Dorothy's will does not prove it because Giles Webb married her daughter Elizabeth SPANN, not Elizabeth Morris daughter of Edward Morris! See Dorothy's findagrave in the sources for the full argument.8,9,3,10,11,6

Elizabeth Presley

F, #1629, b. 29 June 1666, d. 1741
From various family histories I concluded that Elizabeth Haynie, daughter of John Haynie and Jane Morris, married PETER Presley. This made no sense because there was already an Elizabeth who was well known. So I concluded her actual Presley husband was William and did find that some sources agree with me.

We have no good evidence for her last name or parents.
Some have her as Ursula Elizabeth, and Peter Presly and his wife Elizabeth Thompson Presly did have a daughter named Ursula (but also one named Elizabeth, who is said to have married Saunders and Cockrell.

Some have her as Elizabeth Bowen but that is in Massachusetts and Connecticut!
Note, people confuse a Morris in Massachusetts and Connecticut with this family, so beware.

MiscParents Unknown. Wikitree on her name: 2024 parents unknown
Elizabeth (maiden name unknown)
Possible maiden name PRESLEY, daughter of Peter Presley.
(no supporting documentation can be located)
Possible maiden name WILLSON, daughter of Elias Willson.
The Will of Elias Willson, names a daughter Elizabeth and a grandson Edward Morris. It describes Elizabeth as the wife of Edward [last name not legible].

Many people think her father was Peter Presley, but I think William.

She married third a Thomas King. Adding to the "Elizabeth King" list of people!

Why do we think her maiden name is Presley?

The Presley family is clearly documented in Tyler's quarterly historical and genealogical magazine. v. 9, no. 4 Apr 1928, page 265. There is a daughter Elizabeth and she marries Ebenezer Saunders and John Cockrell. The will of Elizabeth Cockrell was probated in 1719.

"Peter Presly and his wife Elizabeth Thompson Presly had issue:THE PRESLY FAMILY or NORTHUMBERLANDCOUNTY. 267
a. Elizabeth.
b. Jane b. June 29, 1664, (St. Stephen's register.)
c. Ursula.
d. Mary.
e. Peter b. 1783.
No extant record states that Elizabeth was daughter of Peter
Presly but the presumptive evidence seems to make it certain.
a. Elizabeth mar. 1st. Ebenezer Saunders. 2nd John Cockrell.
Elizabeth wife of John Cockrell, exec. of Mr. Ebenezer Saunders, dec'd
divided some of his land between her son Edward Saunders, her daughter Elizabeth Saunders, and her (husband's) brother, Edward Saunders.
The will of Elizabeth Cockrell was d. April 25, 1719, pr. May 20, 1719."

But if it's not Pres(s)ley, why is there a son named Pressley Morris!

Plus she married an Elder and I see that name in words about the Presleys. And I also see the name Morris!
_______________
Hint: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Presley-251 Possible maiden name WILLSON, daughter of Elias Willson.
The Will of Elias Willson, names a daughter Elizabeth and a grandson Edward Morris. It describes Elizabeth as the wife of Edward [last name not legible]. This is usually transcribed Edward Moseley and people have found an Elizabeth Moseley... And that the grandchild Edward Morris a child of his daughter Sheba, but who is Sheba? Phoebe married Snead AND Phineas Morris (0 sources, maybe son of Charles Morris) of Jamestown and had child Edward(no sources) of which nothing is known on familysearch... and came from North Carolina? This makes no sense... _________________

To add to the confusion, Peter Elder is not well documented at all and is said to have married an Elizabeth E Cockrell, but her parents aren't known either.

From Jim Hammond: In Laura Hammond's document, for example, I'm fairly certain that her claim of lineage prior to Job No. 1 is not right. I just haven't seen any documentary evidence to support it, and she didn't provide any. And probably when such documents are posted on the web, they should carry some such disclaimer that some of the claims are not supported by documentary evidence.

From Amy Gilreath: Just want to correct this one thing from Laura Hammond:

Samuel Hammond sold all his property including his household equipment - pots & pans, his mare, 29 head of hogs, etc and moved to NC in 1767. [See Fairfax Co., VA Deed Book G, p. 282, 22 Sept. 1767]. Tories had nothing to do with it ...
