Jane could have been a first wife... Some ancestry trees have him married to Mary Jane Kerttandon, born about 1805, who they say lived until 1880.
For her they refer to the 1850 census and 1870 census.
In Pettis County in 1850 David McGee age 45, wife Jane age 44.¹
