    Obituary - John T. Kimsey

John Thomas Kimsey was born near Trimble, August 20, 1889 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Culver, and Mr. Culver. He was a son of Thomas and Sarah Ellen Kimsey and had spent his whole life near Plattsburg and Lathrop, as farmer, employed for years by some of Clinton county's most successful farmers and feeders. For several years, he and Mrs. Kimsey have lived on the Haynes place north of town, until his illness necessitated coming to Mr and Mrs. Culver's from the Hospital.

John Kimsey made profession of faith during a meeting of W. J. Lohman, and became a member of the Christian church in 1909.

February 19, 1910, Mr. Kimsey and Miss Ruth Pardieu were united in marriage by Rev. Baxter Waters, at the Christian church parsonage. One child was born to them, Martha Louisa, now Mrs. James Culver.

Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Hart, Lathrop, Mrs. Dessie Anderson, Parkville, Mrs. Flora Gentry, Cameron and one brother, Clell Kimsey, Lathrop. One brother died several years ago, "Judge" Kimsey.

John Kimsey and family had a large circle of friends who have been deeply concerned over his illness and all during Mrs. Kimsey's serious illness preceding that of her huband.

The service was held at the funeral home of Mr. and Mrs. Crunk, the place made sweet and beautiful by great clusters and baskets of garden flowers of neighbors and many formal pieces. Rev. Baxter Waters was in charge. Singers were H. D. Welch, O. M. Robison Melvin Bowers and Ross Walker, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." Pall bearers were James B. Culver, Ben Culver, Charles Culver, J. D. Trotter, Roy K. Tillett and Fred Gall.

Flower girls, Mrs. D. D. Henderson, Mrs. Glenn Hall, Mrs Paul Corum, Mrs. Jack Stafford. Burial in Lathrop Cemetery.

James Taylor Ratliff

M, #69, b. 29 January 1865, d. 8 August 1920
In the census, the child is James T, but the death certificate for Taylor Ratliff says his father was Washington Ratliff and the birth year is appropriate.

There is also a Richard Taylor Ratliff, apparently... Also in KC area.
This says his father is William A Ratliff and Louisa.
Both of them may call themselves Taylor Ratliff
https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/18869952:7163
Would this Taylor also have come to Platte County? Possible if they were relatives.

Familysearch shows both children with one born in 1864 and one in 1865.

The death certificate I have says his father is Washington Ratliff but his name is simiply Taylor.

Marriage15 March 1887In Platte City, Platte, Missouri, United States. Image of the birth record available. Laura's father's name is John C. Livingston and gave his permission because Laura was under the age of 18.

The summary says January but the record itself says 15 March 1887.
Death8 August 1920At age 55 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri, United States.2,3
MiscName confusion. Not sure where I got Richard Taylor. He generally called himself just Taylor and that's what's in the death certificate. James is in the 1870 census when he was 6 years old. Maybe he's not Richard? I've changed the name to James Taylor. Maybe he's Richard James Taylor or something like that?

Findagrave says Richard Taylor with wife Laura Bell and a matching tombstone to what is apparently hers.
