Joseph F Spencer

M, #108, b. 4 February 1859, d. 5 June 1949
Joseph and his family lived for many years in Platte County, Missouri. In 1860 census when Joseph was one the family lived in Green, Platte, Missouri. Each census seemed to have a different town but they always lived in Platte County. In 1900 census Joseph and his parents Thomas and Martha Spencer and his brother Clinton lived in Jackson County, Kansas. The census was on the Pottawatomie Indian Reservation.

His parents died in Circleville, Jackson, Kansas before the next census was taken in 1910, he had married Etta Gabriel and lived with her in Harrison, Nemah, Kansas with her daughter by a previous marriage Hazel Smith. By 1930 census Etta had passed away and Joseph lived with his step-daughter Hazel Smith Cabiness and her husband William in St. Joseph, Missouri, also the same for 1940.

Mary J Spencer

F, #109, b. 1861, d. between 1870 and 1880
It is not clear who the findagrave person Maggie Spencer is. It is assigned to Mary Spencer and they take the birth date from the stone, misread I believe(see below)

There is a Mary and a Margaret Spencer. The birth date are known only from the 1870 census. From the 1870 census:

In 1880 census

Also, the tombstone has a birth date, but it is not clear if it is Nov 18, 1862 or Nov 18, 1867
a 2 would have a curved top, and this last number does not have a curved top but has a lip like a 7 might have (no 7 on the tombstone).

Benjamin F Kimsey

M, #124, b. 25 April 1794, d. 25 March 1876
Benjamin Kimsey ... was a native of North Carolina, born April 25, 1794. In an early day his parents removed to Tennessee, and in 1817, his father having died, he, with his mother and two sisters, came to Missouri and settled in Howard county. There he met and married Miss Elizabeth Morris, also originally from North Carolina, who was brought by her parents first to Kentucky in 1789 and then, in 1818, to Howard county. Their marriage occurred a short time after her arrival there, she then being a young lady a few years her husband's junior. Eight children, five sons and three daughters, followed their union, but two of whom, however, are living: Francis M., born December 27, 1832, married Miss Martha Baxter, now residents of Arkansas, and William D., the subject of this sketch. Their mother died, March 3, 1858, in Platte county, whither the parents had removed and their father in the same county, March 25, 1876.
